Town Poems; Before being combined.

Men, women, children of the colored race trying to get by.
Everything seperated, but why?
You can hear the cruelness everywhere, every place.
And this is all because of one thing, seperation of race.

They're everywhere, just trying to stay alive.
Their homes, their communties, all trying to survive.
The colored people are down, no one is happy, but why?
It's the "better" white people they say, it makes me want to cry.

What a sight to see,
Why don't you just look toward me,
Too many people pass in the street,
And I'm sure you've caught a glimpse of me.
I live up above, and you pass me everyday.
Maybe you'll walk by feet, or even drive your car,
In which you can get pretty far.
But you don't have to look toward me,
Just look around, for if you saw what I saw,
Amazement would shine in your eyes.

I watch as you walk by,
With your big full smiles,
Even in the worst of times.
Some of you are white,
Others of you are black.
That's how you view one another,
Not by what's inside, but by back and white.
I've watched for countless hours,
The fights, the arguments between each race.
What you haven't come to realize is you need to stand united.

From where I stand you can see over the whole town,
The endless fields,
The views of the animals, the signs, the frowns.
What you don't see is that everything surronds you.
You'll have to face everything around you,
The money's slow income,
The job losses,
The different races,
Life.

I sit up high from the opened window,
Sometimes, I'll stand, but you couldn't tell that.
For you, have yet to see everything around you.
You see, I have nothing to loose, nothing to gain.
You don't see me, but I see you.
I've just never come into your view.
